Founded in 1880 as the first private club in Los Angeles, the LAAC set out to be a center for physical culture in Southern California. The historic club emerged to foster social interaction, professional networking, and special interests.
The LAAC commissioned these postcard designs to spotlight America’s oldest clubs, for a featured article in LAAC’s Mercury Magazine.
Six designs and illustrations depicting some of the oldest clubs in the country: the Los Angeles Athletic Club, Detroit Athletic Club, New York Athletic Club, Multnomah Athletic Club, and the Olympic Club. Inspiration was taken from vintage postcards and old photos from the archives. The postcard designs appeared in Mercury Magazine.
